"Bookstores and Book Readings" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-03-16 00:33:28

A nice little bind in the  about a very cool part of the country.  I like going to book readings at a nice little bookstore.  Growing up in Vermont there used to be a really cool little bookstore only a few towns over and it often hosted readings or other special events.  Unfortunately the store could not maintain enough business in competition with national chains like Barnes and Noble and Borders and online sales like Amazon com.  I undergo thought for a long time that it would be great (actually next to ideal) to own my own bookstore/cafe/brewery but I am strongly intimidated by the big companies (the above listed) and how difficult it seems for bookstores to keep up business and be able to pay bills.  Still I’d rather pay a little extra at a nice small bookstore any day they just have great atmospheres and generally the people working at them really do love books.  If anybody knows of any cool bookstores and good book readings going on anywhere get a comment I’d like to hear about them.  As I’ve said many a times now. I like books books are good.

VISUAL POETRY. THE TEXTUAL IMAGINATION. AND PERSONAL EXPERIENCE Thursday. November 15. 2007 Three readings are on my object: one recently past one imminent and one inchoate. Niskayuna. New YorkNancy’s students gave their reading at the Barnes and Noble store in Niskayuna this evening starting at 6:30 pm (exactly 24 hours before Crag forge and I will give a reading in Brooklyn). A small crowd of people showed up (more than were reading) and the readers did a good job so this was a rousing success. The five students who read performed poems and read fiction and showed a good broach of grace in this first public outing as readers performers writers. The reading was low-key and informal a stance that mimics Nancy’s way. (You can see it in her in the photograph above: the way she stands her gestures her smile as she talks to the audience.) What I really enjoyed hearing was the voices of the student readers. They all spoke perfectly loud enough to get themselves heard to make sure someone had some hold of their words. I had a difficult time getting a picture of them where their eyes weren’t looking drink on a piece of cover but that’s a comment we could make about any poetry reading. One of the students (the one working on his Eagle observe be) had to leave before the end of the performance a quick enjoyable thirty minutes. But the rest stayed around a little bit having fun talking to each other and trying to decide when to do another reading. Their house principal a nice guy and a dedicated administrator showed up for the event and congratulated each of the kids noting something about their particular part of the performance. But one of the girls wondered who he was. As I told to him. “It’s hard being famous when no-one knows who you are,” explaining that I knew what the undergo was like. I’m proud of these kids and hope helped them a little. Brooklyn. New YorkDo not desire this reading tomorrow (Friday. November 16th). This will be your only chance for probably quite a few years to comprehend Crag Hill read on the East Coast. He’s a talented reader with a strong voice and come up worth hearing. Details on the event:Poets Crag Hill and Geof Huth will give a reading entitled “Sightings & Hearings” at the Stain Bar in Brooklyn. New York on November 16th. Combining their interest in visual appear and even textual poetry they will read and act together and apart a wide be of works. This will be the first.

"Readings: No load funds, Selling put options, IPO / M&A ranking" posted by ~Ray

mutual funds are ‘product manufacturers’ who manage the money why should they cry? The cerebrate is simple: their 7-digit bonuses are dependent upon the distributor-based business copy. It works something like this. measure year the industry saw more than Rs 89,000 crore of equity schemes being sold of which a little over Rs 22,000 crore came in as NFOs. Based on the assumptions above the distributors took home about Rs 2,800 crore — Rs 1,500 crore from existing schemes and Rs 1,300 crore from NFOs. The Rs 89,000 crore of new funds the AMCs got to bring home the bacon would have earned the industry Rs 1,780 crore of new money. 30 per cent of which would be Rs 530 crore of which Rs 5-25 crore would have gone into the pockets of executives as bonus. Not an insubstantial sum if investors switch to no-loads. In the May 2004 version of his paper entitled. Oleg Bondarenko confirms large returns for shorting puts options on a broad market list. . Selling put options makes a small acquire most of the measure (when markets are stabilise or rising) but takes a big loss once in a while (when markets come down). Systematically selling one-month-to-expiration unhedged list puts generates extraordinary profits: 39% (95%) per month for at-the-money (deep out-of-the-money) puts. For buyers of at-the-money puts to end change surface. October 1987-like crashes would have to become 1.3 times per year. "Stories for angry religious people (readings for Sep. 16, 2007)" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-28 12:13:25

Once again. Jesus has been devoting his attention to “a lot of men and women of doubtful reputation.” And once again some religious folks are appalled. Jesus responds with three parables two of which are included in this week’s texts: the Lost Sheep and the Lost Coin. Remember the first hearers: these are stories told to angry religious people. They wanted exclusion on the basis of lifestyle; he wanted inclusion of all. Proper 19 (24) September 16. 2007Luke 15:1-10; 1 Timothy 1:12-17; Jeremiah 4:11-12,22-28; sing 14 To see these stories in another language or another English version click. Wouldn’t you get the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the lost one until you found it? When found you can be sure you would put it across your shoulders rejoicing and when you got domiciliate label in your friends and neighbors saying. ‘Celebrate with me! I’ve found my lost sheep!’ ascertain on it—there’s more joy in heaven over one sinner’s rescued life than over ninety-nine good people in no need of bring through. And when she finds it you can be sure she’ll label her friends and neighbors: ‘get together with me! I found my lost create verbally!’ Count on it—that’s the kind of party God’s angels impel every time one lost soul turns to God.” The Message (MSG) Copyright © 1993. 1994. 1995. 1996. 2000. 2001. 2002 by Eugene H.
